(1/2) GHMC Commissioner Sri R V Karnan visited the GHMC’s Solid Waste Processing & Disposal Facility at Jawahar Nagar, along with Sri Raghu Prasad, Additional Commissioner (Sanitation), and Sri Sreenivasa Reddy, Executive Engineer (SWM). The visit aimed to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) processing operations undertaken by the concessionaire, M/s Hyderabad Integrated MSW Ltd (HIMSW), for the recovery of compost, biogas and electricity. The Commissioner inspected key facilities including the tipping floor, composting units, CBG facility, and waste-to-energy plant, and reviewed operational efficiency. He emphasized the need to reduce the load on the Jawahar Nagar facility by expediting decentralized MSW processing at Pyaranagar and Dundigal. #GHMC #SolidWasteManagement #SustainableHyderabad

It’s not fair to see everything in -ve angle. As a responsible citizen, kindly cooperate with #GHMC to maintain ours as a #CleanCity

Commissioner, GHMC visited the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Processing and Disposal facility at Jawahar Nagar today from 7am to 1pm to understand the situation. He visited Weighbridges where vehicle weighment is done with automated RFID system without human interface and briefed how the waste sorting is done total of 8,500 tons per day (TPD) (including 1,000 tons from surrounding municipalities) into about 3,825 TPD (45%) of Wet (biodegradable) waste from which compost is generated & 4,675 TPD (55%) of Dry (inorganic) waste is converted as Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) to send as fuel in cement plants & Waste to Energy (WTE) plants. He witnessed the method of generation of electricity by using RDF as fuel in the 24 MW Waste to Energy plant and also the progress of phase2 WTE plant under construction. He was briefed that RDF consumption will be doubled to 2,500 tons per day from present 1250 tons once phase2 WtE is commissioned. He also visited Anaerobic Digester which can generate 4.5 Tons of Compressed Bio Gas & 60 tons of compost per Day by an intake of 300 tons of wet waste every day. MSW generation has more than doubled in last decade i.e., from 3,500 metric tons per day in 2014 to 7,500 tons now, about 350 grams to a whopping 730 grams per head per day and called for better awareness for segregation so that majority of valuable resources such as paper, cardboard and plastic are diverted to recycling as part of circular economy. and enquired about the establishment of processing and disposal facilities at alternate sites so as to reduce the burden on Jawahar Nagar

Also necessary precautions taken to control (accidental) burning in dumpsites.

GHMC won’t pay any salary to Swachh Auto Trolley persons. Unlike few other cities paying salaries by collecting user fee, GHMC chose self entrepreneurial model
