@gallina_ciega I’m sorry about their thoughtlessness, but you have dodged a bullet. Academia is hands-down the most toxic, mirthless, self-important and insecure environment I have ever worked in. Turn back now. Find a better path. It’s out there. Believe it.

@CAASCO @CAA Thanks for the response. I completely understand that there can be busy days. My issue is that we were not informed/updated. Maybe offer alternatives like pay for a cab so customer can go get gas in a jerry can!

1/x I’ve had great experiences with @CAASCO @CAA, but today is not one… 4:11 - Called bc ran out of gas, on busy rural road at edge of city, w/ 3 kids in car. Told a truck wd arrive by 5:07. 5:17 - Called back. Told there were 2 calls ahead of us, but truck was on the way.

3/3 Partner is finally on his way. We were 10km from home (i.e., not the middle of nowhere), and it took over 3.5 h to get service that didn’t even require a tow. Unacceptable. This has resulted in loss of income bc partner missed a shift. @CAA @CAASCO DO BETTER.

2/x 6:15 - Called back. Told the other truck wasn’t in our area, but now there is one & will arrive in 30 min. > Called family member to pick up me & kids, while partner stayed on side of the road. Just checked with partner, and he’s on the phone with @CAA again. 😠

There is an *entire class* of elementary students outside behind my house, practising on their recorders.

Teach your students to advocate for themselves. Encourage them to always speak out and speak up for themselves and others. Remind them of their rights to BE and to be in the know. They deserve to be fully aware of their power.
