Treatments for EGFR+ #lungcancer have continued to improve, helping many people live longer and better than ever before. But for many, the biggest day to day challenge isn’t the cancer itself. It’s the side effects of treatment. In our EGFR+ UK side effects survey, people told us that fatigue, diarrhoea, dry skin, muscle cramps and rashes have the biggest impact on daily life, mental wellbeing and the ability to stay on treatment. As research continues to move forward, progress has to mean more than longer survival. We also need treatments with fewer side effects, better ways to prevent and manage toxicity, and stronger evidence to help people find what works best for them. Living longer should also mean living better. #LSCM

While DLL3 is highly expressed post-transformation, RWD with tarlatamab has shown limited efficacy. Options for our patients impacted by transformed #EGFR mutant #SCLC (#transformationtribe) are needed. Honored to partner with my dear friend Dr. Triparna Sen @triparnasen on our active first-in-human trial investigating lurbinectedin + osimertinib in transformed EGFR mutant SCLC “LOTS.” This study was built on foundational preclinical research led by Dr. Sen with this combination. Correlatives with LOTS includes exploring longitudinal liquid biopsies and pre-/post-treatment tissue biopsies will refine our knowledge for biomarker discovery and understanding of this challenging disease. @SclcSMASHERS @EGFRResisters @IUCancerCenter @OSUCCC_James #DAVALung

Actually, this claim that ctDNA cannot diagnose transformed SCLC is not dogma. Look at our epigenetic ctDNA paper @JCOPO_ASCO, that accurately calls out NSCLC vs SCLC clones. This is an evolving space, and this may be an outdated point in 1-2 years 👉🏽 ascopubs.org/doi/full/10.12…

@TumorBoardTues @DDoroshow @IntegrityCE @jsoriamd 6/36 #TumorBoardTuesday 👨🏽‍🏫 Histologic transformation deserves special attention. ❗ Plasma ctDNA cannot dx small-cell or squamous transform. Transformation requires tissue. 🔬 5–15% transform to SCLC or squamous after osi: Repeat bx remains critical at progression.

6 years ago, 2 women with EGFR+ #lungcancer found there was nothing in the UK to support people like them. So Kathy & Jenny built it themselves. EGFR+ UK began as an online support group on 2019, became a charity in 2020, & is now a community of > 1,200 people & a respected voice in healthcare, research & advocacy. We have grown through a pandemic, the loss of both our founders in 2021, & through every year since, always holding on to the hope they started with: that no one in the UK should face EGFR+ alone. Thank you so much to everyone who has been part of our story 💜 #LCSM

Scan result waits can be one of the hardest parts of living with EGFR+ #lungcancer. Our 2025 EGFR+ UK Members’ Survey found that in some parts of the UK, people waited more than 4 weeks for their scan results. The survey also highlights differences in waiting times across the UK, showing that experiences are not the same everywhere. 📊 248 responses from across the UK. The largest UK dataset focused on EGFR+ lung cancer. static1.squarespace.com/static/5dc9ae6… #LCSM

On 13 June, Faye & her dad Martyn completed a sponsored walk in memory of Sophie, Faye’s sister and Martyn’s daughter, who was a very loved member of our EGFR+ #lungcancer community. They have now raised an incredible £1,000 for EGFR+ UK (4 times their target!) and we are so grateful for every step they took. Sophie worked hard raising awareness and supporting others with EGFR+, and this is a beautiful way to honour her. Thank you, Faye and Martyn, from all of us. #LCSM justgiving.com/page/martyn-fa…

‼️ Early-onset lung cancer emerged as one of the strongest signals in a major new Nature Medicine study investigating why more younger adults are developing cancer. Researchers found accelerated biological ageing was associated with significantly higher risk of early-onset #lungcancer and identified a link between immune ageing and lung cancer risk. Lung cancer is rarely central to discussions about rising cancer rates in younger adults. This study suggests it should be. nature.com/articles/s4159… #LCSM

Exactly why risk prediction beyond age and smoking history matters. In our 2025 survey, 67% of people with EGFR+ lung cancer had never smoked and over 20% were under 50 at diagnosis. Current screening criteria miss this group entirely.
Drew Moghanaki@DrewMoghanaki

The key problem with early detection cancer screening studies isn’t the test or downstream procedures. It regards our inability to predict risk beyond age, and in the case of lung cancer how many cigarettes someone smoked. This inability blows up the denominator blurring our ability to see its benefits for the individuals actually helps.

The #AllYouNeedIsLungs campaign was presented as a research poster at the @LCN_UK Conference this week. Developed by EGFR Positive UK, @UKALK1 and the @RuthStraussFdn, the campaign uses real stories from people affected by lung cancer to challenge misconceptions about who can develop the disease and what life with lung cancer can look like. A massive 🙏 to every member of our community who shared their story, took part in the campaign, completed the survey, or helped spread the message. #LCSM
