If the Virginia gerrymander is struck down (which is a huge if)…
And if Alabama or Louisiana draws out both Democrats in Congress rather than just one (also a huge if, the maps we’ve seen so far don’t suggest this will happen)…
And if South Carolina also districts…
And if no other Blue state is able to redistrict before November…
Then Republicans would become favorites to hold the House in the midterms. They’d probably have just barely 218 seats without winning any of the hotly contested swing districts that remain scattered across mostly the Midwest and Arizona.
