I quit my TikTok account with 900,000 followers.
Why?
Because I didn't see it lasting in the future, and they banned me from making money.
Heres how I beat the TikTok algorithm at 14 years old and then left it to pursue AI. ⬇️
In 2020, like many other people, my school and life were completely shutdown due to Covid-19.
So I decided to take up something that I had always wanted to do: content creation.
I began my journey by making videos on Tiktok. For the first 30 videos, I couldn't even crack 1000 views in total.
I was in the Minecraft niche, so it was very competitive. But eventually, I uploaded a tutorial video and it went viral, reaching 1 million views in a week.
I thought I had found my success, but it was a lot harder to replicate viral videos than I thought. For the next 20 videos, I barely got any views.
I was at a roadblock for months until one day on my YouTube homepage, I was recommended a video by a creator known as Dream, called "2 hunters v.s. Speedrunner."
I watched it and thought it was pretty cool, so I decided to make a funny skit about it where I portrayed Dream against 100 wolves.
I replicated his exact tone of voice and what he says in his videos.
I didn't really think much of the video because I purposely died in the first 5 seconds. But when I hit upload, it went MEGA viral.
Reaching 5 million views and half a million likes.
And with that, I had found my format: funny skits.
For the next 300 days, I uploaded a skit every single day, coming up with all the ideas, characters, and editing every video.
I wasn't in school, so I had ample time to make the videos and over a period of 2 years, I gained 900,000 followers.
I was making money and was super happy, until TikTok hit me with a 6-month ban. This was supposedly an "adult content violation."
Even though all my content was made for young kids and was Minecraft.
So after this huge loss, I took a break until my account was unbanned.
When I came back, I was still able to pull in hundreds of thousands of views with my Minecraft content, but for some reason, I was still not getting paid from TikTok.
I contacted their support 5 different times, but there was never an answer. My account was completely banned from ever making money.
I didn't only do it for the money, but since my audience was very young and Minecraft was dying in popularity, I decided to quit when I first heard about AI.
It was a long grind and I will still continue content creation, just in a new light. Right now, I am building a faceless YouTube channel and learning everything I can about AI.
The lesson here is that just because something succeeds, it does not trap you into always having to do that one thing, and you never know, I could go back to my account when my audience is older and start creating again.
