@ELSolojon Proto made Gracie go through the hell he and the kids lived: brainwashing treatment and the sufferers of adapting to a new plastic body. The punishment didn't become useless ir backfired. HOWEVER, it didn't make Gracie aware of her crimes, which Proto didn't like.

While analysing Proto's handwriting with a friend, we noticed some interesting details: By the pressure of the pen, Proto writes the letters (one by one) backwards. Also, due to the shape of his hands, he cannot write in cursive (His o's are triangle-shaped, so cute!)

@NikkiLottee The prototype did not undergo the brainwashing process. And I'm just saying, punishment ceases to be punishment if the person doesn't remember what they did, and worse if they don't remember who they were; that's torture.

@NikkiLottee And besides, how will he save the toys if he kills them or uses them for experiments, or lets them devour each other? (And they're supposed to be children too.) Perspective doesn't matter, because that's what all the scientists had, except Leith Pierre; he only wanted money.

@NikkiLottee That sounds like the scientists saying it's to give everyone immortality, just reduced to something more selfish and somewhat cold. And he just wants a better place for himself and Poppy with the orphans (depending on how they survive).

@NikkiLottee The Prototype's intention was to torture Gracie by making her watch her videos, so that she would be aware of what she did, but it backfired; Lily shouldn't exist, so the punishment becomes useless.

@ELSolojon I disagree. Lilly is the result of a deserved punishment: she forgot what she was once: a human. She did the same with the children, so she tasted her own cruelty. The isolation bit is also deserved: why would she interact with the kids she had abused psychologically?

@NikkiLottee I like the Prototype as a villain; it's a love-hate thing. I love him for how the villain is made and constructed, and I hate him for being a monster to everyone and for being a hypocrite.

@NikkiLottee Anyway, I made the comment ironically; what he has is precisely what he takes away from Lily.

@NikkiLottee I'm not defending Gracie at all, but if she doesn't remember anything, and it's just Lily's personality, the punishment is pointless. The isolation on Sweet Street is revenge because the torture in conditioning was a failure, and also because she needed to use the space.

@NikkiLottee I hope that in chapter 6 we will see more notes like this from the Prototype to further analyze its nature.

@NikkiLottee Ha, the Prototype needs contact, and he likes lists, yet he forbids Lily from having any contact. Without a doubt, the Prototype has become quite the scientist.

Proto is organised and tends to keep words close to each other. In psychology, this means that he needs constant contact with others and has a focused behaviour. And, judging by the way he wrote this note, it's probably that he's a list-making person. Very interesting, right?
