The COVID alert exposure notification app a low risk, low reward approach. Won’t assist in contact tracing, but doesn’t raise same privacy risks + privacy commish consulted before release. Effectiveness depends upon widespread usage and willingness to report if test positive.

Canada’s COVID alert app launches today in Ontario. It’s an exposure notification app so will notify if you’ve come in proximity to someone who tested positive. Notable it is not for contact tracing, doesn’t collect personal info and is obviously voluntary ottawa.ctvnews.ca/federally-back…
