Tony Allen’s funeral is today in Paris. I’ve been listening to his drumming a lot (more than usual) in the past few days. I sat down to record a solo with him in mind, but it ended up being frustrating more than anything. Nobody played like Tony. (thread)

My favorite drummer has died. Tony Allen. I haven’t processed it at all & don’t usually jump to posting after something this heavy happens but I feel the immediate need to write, in order to process my feelings about him & outwardly express how important a figure he was in music.
