They were eventually able to convince the patient to be transported and advocated for the hospital to call a stroke code, which ended up being the correct diagnosis. Kudos!

This crew was dispatched to a patient who could not get out of bed. Although her vital signs were normal, they noted that she had visual disturbances that indicated an uncommon presentation of stroke.

As such, we are unable to get accurate data for transports vs. non-transports this week. Hopefully we’ll get this sorted out!

This week in Durham County By the Numbers: The data moves in mysterious ways. By that, we mean that our charting software decided to change our options for dispositions in a way that is causing a bit of chaos.

This week in Durham County By the Numbers: We’ve seen a slight increase in both call volume and response times, with a big shift towards transports instead of non-transports. Stay safe and stay hydrated!

Immediately after this, the same crews were dispatched to another cardiac arrest, where they achieved return of spontaneous circulation. These crews kept their cool and provided high-level medical care on a very long night. Kudos to all involved!

When the second unit arrived, they were able to take over care of the initial patient who had fallen. Both patients were treated and transported to the hospital in improved condition.
