@jmcdonou @teichlab @bayraktar_lab @StatGenomics @ParsySaeb We think that the newly defined "immune recruiting fibroblast" (localised to immune infiltrate) are on their way to become iBALT or at resolving this structure. So far, we cannot define a link from gland immune niche to the iBALT, but would be super interesting to study.

@teichlab @bayraktar_lab @StatGenomics @ParsySaeb While interesting to see high resolution of immune cell populations, we are especially excited to see IgA plasma cell enrichment in the airway sub-mucosal glands (SMG). Also, IgA plasma cells are increased in covid nasal and tracheal samples, exemplifying the relevance today.

@teichlab @bayraktar_lab @StatGenomics @ParsySaeb We distinguished between systemic and pulmonary circulations for endothelial and especially perivascular cells. Exciting to see similarities between germinal centre postcapillary venous pericytes, and our chemokine-expressing venous perivascular cells (IR-Ven-Peri).

@teichlab @bayraktar_lab @StatGenomics @ParsySaeb We also describe four peripheral nerve cell types in the airway nerves: myelinating and non-myelinating Schwann cells, epineurial and endoneurial fibroblasts. We point out EVX1 motif in myelinating Schwann cells, and show specific expression of rare neuropathy-associated genes.
