When nurses are safe and supported at work, they can better care for their patients, their own families and themselves. Health Workforce Well-Being Day marks the anniversary of the passage of the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act, important legislation that addresses the mental health needs of physicians, nurses and other providers through advocacy, program grants, and the All In: Caring for Caregivers Coalition. ENA is a proud coalition member and shares a commitment to empowering people to foster work cultures where employees are supported and safe, both physically and emotionally. To ensure the long-term vitality of the forensic nursing specialty, the International Association of Forensic Nurses and ENA announced on Monday a formal transfer of IAFN's membership, continuing education courses and practice resources to ENA. “It is a tremendous privilege and responsibility to carry on IAFN’s legacy, and we will do so by welcoming IAFN members into our community and establishing ENA as the new home for forensic nurses and the vital resources they rely on.” - ENA Interim Executive Director Bridget Walsh “After decades in forensic nursing and as a leader in IAFN, I understand deeply what it means to have a true community of practice – one that safeguards the ethical core of nursing while giving the specialty the platform it needs to grow. Finding that community in ENA was not accidental, it was the result of intentional, values-driven work and our history of successful partnership." - IAFN CEO Jennifer Pierce-Weeks. March 8 marks International Women’s Day, a time to recognize the strength, contributions, and lasting impact of women across the world and throughout history. It is also an opportunity to reflect on how much progress has been made, while acknowledging the work that still remains to achieve true equity and opportunity for women and girls everywhere. In nursing, we see that impact every day. Women have shaped this profession through courage, advocacy, compassion, innovation, and leadership. They have influenced not only the care delivered at the bedside, but also the policies, systems, and movements that continue to move health care and our communities forward. This day is also a reminder that the pursuit of equity and justice is not separate from the work of nursing. It is part of who we are. Nurses have long been advocates, not only for patients but for safer workplaces, stronger communities, and a more just world. On International Women’s Day, I hope we take time to honor the women who have paved the way, uplift the women leading today, and encourage the next generation to keep pushing forward with strength and purpose. I invite you to learn more about the history of women’s advocacy, including the role nurses played in suffrage and social movements, and to reflect on how each of us can continue advancing dignity, equity, and opportunity in our profession and beyond. To every woman who has led, cared, spoken up, sacrificed, mentored, and made a way for others, thank you. Your impact is everywhere, and our profession is stronger because of you. — ENA President Dustin Bass - bulletin.ukahn.org/deeds-not-word… - nps.gov/fomc/learn/his… - un.org/en/observances…

Emergency department health care providers play a critical role during public health emergencies - especially the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the pandemic, innovations were developed and distributed to help providers care for patients. RAND Corporation researchers conducted a four-year study to understand how to improve the dissemination of care innovations in the midst of a PHE - when it's chaotic and there's little evidence to guide best practices. ENA was a proud participant in this study, sharing how the organization worked to support emergency nurses and spread valuable information during those difficult years. Learn more about the study and the strategies it generated here: rand.org/health/project…
