Thank you for everyone's support this week. I'm really proud of the way our community has come together in the wake of this tragedy. I was planning to go all in on recruitment for a PhD student this week, but all I have the energy for is this post. Applications are due 12/1

Did I finish all the work I set out to do today? No. But did I finish all the time-sensitive new work that appeared in my inbox today? Also no.

This one is REALLY important for grad students and PhDs. Being a professor *seems* great but don't do it for the title! You have to actually like the actual work.

Breaking: UVALDE, Texas (AP) -- Report: Findings reveal nearly 400 officers were at Uvalde elementary school as police waited to confront gunman.

Dragged myself to my campus office and picked up my mail. It’s official! Associate Professor of Education and Associate Professor of Nursing. <pats self on back> @UVAEdu @UVASON Thank you to all who helped me along the way! #healthequitynow #Academiclife

Please stop linking #mentalhealth & violence in discussions about gun violence. Most people with mental health challenges don’t engage in violence & are actually more likely to be victims of violence. Linking mental health & violence is inaccurate & promotes #MentalHealthStigma
