@Peter_Bukowski @AaronNagler They were able to give them fits but 3rd down is where the cbs seemed to give up big plays and could never get off the field. After Micah went down it became a bit more obvious too

The Bears could not score in the first half of any of 3 games. If their plan was to attack the CBs, they were bad at it just as much as you suggest they succeeded. And the Bengals throwing to Ja'Marr Chase -- the best WR in the NFL -- 100 times doesnt' say as much about the Packers as it does Chase.

The Bengals, Broncos and Bears all knew they could get buckets on Nixon and Valentine when they most needed to and proceeded to do so. We watched very different teams last year.
Peter Bukowski@Peter_Bukowski

I am sympathetic to the concerns about CB play in GB, but even without Jaire Alexander the last two years, no team has said, "We are going to attack your bad CBs." This is not 2020 with Kevin King where teams would just throw at him all game.

@Peter_Bukowski Best thing about it is the only one I would have to have is Chris Johnson so other than him falling in reasonable range of a trade up. They will have plenty options at 52 or 84 of the ones that fit their type.

@15Four12 @Peter_Bukowski Not much of a gamble to take on ponds. He's a slot they have a slot. Not the best use of resources and I'm sure he doesn't drop to the point where you just have to do it based on value.

@Peter_Bukowski Prysock? I keep coming to him in mocks. I would take the gamble on Ponds if he is there and Johnson isn’t. Johnson just feels like the guy, and he will inevitably go before we take him.

@Brennen_Rupp Tbh go get your CB grab a NT in 4th and BPA the rest of the way will be even better if you can recoup a day 3 pick in the trade up

This is what it could potentially look like. Get one of the top CBs at the top of the 2nd. Then attack the trenches on Day 3. I’m not advocating for a trade up but Gutey’s moves this offseason have offered him the flexibility to be uber aggressive to go get a player he likes.
Brennen Rupp tweet media
Brennen Rupp@Brennen_Rupp

Counterpoint. You trade up to let’s say 34 by trading 52 and 87 to snag one of the top CBs like a Chris Johnson or Brandon Cisse Or DT route could be any one of; Kayden McDonald Christen Miller Lee Hunter That leaves Gutekunst with five Day 3 picks to play with.

Safety is an underrated need for the Packer. They have Bullard who’s more of a slot guy, McKinney, & Evan Williams. I doubt they’ll be able to keep all 3. If I had to guess I’d bet they probably pay McKinney / Bullard and let Evan walk. We have to invest at safety real soon.

@Galileo242 @Peter_Bukowski Who could that have signed that would have been better than the comp picks? If Xaiver McKinney was in FA they would have signed him & said the hell with the comp picks.

Look, I don’t think Brian Gutekunst is a perfect GM by any means. For example, I abhorred the way the 2022 draft went with TWO picks in the first round I thought were bad picks in the moment. But the “they’re always playing for the future” criticism died last August.

Tony notes that the Packers are interested in Oregon OL Alex Harkey. He started 20-plus games at RT and has taken snaps at LT and RG. He’s a guard at the next level but the Packers would like that versatility. Day 3 target.
Tony Pauline@TonyPauline

Pro Day update from @oregonfootball includes: * Pregnon look great. Range expected from 25-42 * Harkey getting love from the @Vikings & @RamsNFL * @BuffaloBills like Benson's versatility * "Slow" Arkansas State WR runs 4.38 essentiallysports.com/nfl-active-new…

Making a trade like that would still leave Gutekunst with five Day 3 picks. By signing Hargrave and St. Juste he has given himself some wiggle room to be aggressive and to go up and get a player he likes. Address depth of roster on Day 3 with those five Day 3 picks.

Unpacking Future Packers: No. 42, Chris Johnson The San Diego State product has the makings of a lockdown CB and would give the Packers a playmaker at the position. If Johnson is still on the board to start Day 2, Gutekunst could make a move to snag him. packerswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/n…
