@nuhre_ I said pretty much the same thing today. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who thinks this way.

I'm gonna sound harsh, but studios that spent decades sitting on the throne and now keep dropping mid after mid deserve to get dethroned. That's how the industry is supposed to work. If the blood stops circulating, it rots. Gaming used to be about competition. Someone would make a hit, and instead of copying their homework, another studio would come along and try to outdo them with something completely different. It was an endless cycle of studios rising, others falling, and the industry getting better because of it. Now half the industry is surviving on nostalgia, remasters, and the sentence, "From the studio that brought you X." If a new studio can do it better, move over. Let someone hungry have a turn.

Well there it is. Elder Scrolls Online / Zenimax has laid off 213 people (technically 379). Will this just be a major setback? A first step towards studio shutdown? I was confident it was a setback/restructuring, but I foresee a Destiny 2 situation where servers stay on

@Linnception @NyceGamingYT If you're talking about BLACKBIRD, then I'm very happy, as are a lot of people who play TESO. You couldn't implement a game with huge potential, there are so many possibilities, but you started doing another project that consumed huge finances and personnel from TESO.

@NyceGamingYT You don't even know the half of ZENIMAX, I've seen a lot in 13 years, including the studio's work. The dismissal of 213 employees will not entail major changes, so after 2 months they will recruit specialists who will actually work on the game.

@ESOAuriEl Yea theres still hope. However it’s fair to say that it is scary. The main office and a lot of the main devs were let go. I wont stop playing ESO and hoping it continues but showing satellite offices after the core team was gutted and 300+ lost jobs isn’t the flex you think it is

@NyceGamingYT Yes, the main office has been reduced, but ZOS has other divisions that have also been working on the game all this time.

@Pirat_Nation He was a parasite on this, like the whole studio, perhaps this reorganization is the right decision and the developers will be more responsible for the work and ordinary players who have been asking for years to listen and not release questionable updates when they were still

Former developers at ZeniMax Online Studios say Microsoft’s latest Xbox layoffs have hit the studio hard. One former senior systems designer said there is “really no one left” after the layoffs. He also claimed that The Elder Scrolls Online made enough money over the years to help fund several failed projects. According to him, the MMO’s success helped pay for games that were canceled before release, including Project Blackbird, an MMO that was shut down during Microsoft’s recent Xbox restructuring.
