Under clear sky conditions, the fires appear as bright, radiant flickers on the mostly uniform purple or dark blue land surface. Depending on their temperature, they may appear in shades from red to yellow, or even white when the fire is extremely intense. 2/3

Lighter blue is in the areas of a dry boundary layer and darker blue is where the boundary layer has more moisture. For example, the eastern coast of Spain has more moisture due to its closeness to the Mediterranean Sea. To the north, some cirrus clouds are visible in black. 2/2

The thunderstorm caused flash flooding and travel disruptions in Southern England, even closing Bristol Airport. The convective cell can be seen in the Convection RGB in shades of yellow. Light yellow colour indicates smaller ice particles and potentially a more severe storm. 2/2

Here, several cells at different stages of development can be observed over central Algeria. Detection performance degrades at high latitudes and toward the edge of the satellite disk, where the viewing geometry becomes increasingly oblique. 2/2

These disturbances are monitored during the hurricane season as they can travel across the Atlantic and lead to the formation of tropical cyclones. According to the National Hurricane Center, about 85% of major hurricanes (category 3 or more) can be traced to tropical waves. 2/2

Such a synoptic pattern contributed to the development of a heatwave across Europe, with the UK breaking its highest May temperature record. The MTG True Colour RGB combines red, green, and blue visible channels to create realistic colours as perceived by the human eye. 2/2

True Colour RGB - 25 May, 10 UTC - MTG satellite imagery shows mostly cloud-free conditions across large parts of Europe. The absence of cloud cover is consistent with stable anticyclonic conditions and subsidence, which suppress cloud development and favour strong heating. 1/2
