@EUR0PAPA No the discourse is definitely about them doing well whatever they send. The same way for Sweden in recent years. songs are far from being good yet they get votes when flawless songs are either too this or too that. That Italian guy couldn’t sing on key, it was genuinely bad
I’m so tired of the “Italy could send anything and still do well” discourse. They came 6th in the televote and joint 6th in the juries, I’d say that’s pretty aligned. Just admit the song is good lmao
@alloholahello The discourse is usually around the juries overscoring them because it’s Italy, my point is that the general public are enjoying their entries just as much, perhaps it’s time to admit it’s not a country bias and that they just send stuff people enjoy
@Eurohive Or maybe you just didn’t like it and that’s fine? But when he got 6th in both juries and televote maybe it isn’t actually country bias, people just actually enjoyed it?
@americaneurofan How so? If it had a landslide in either jury or televote you’d have a point, but he got 6th in both, so both the jury and the voting public are Italy biased is that what you’re saying?
@EUR0PAPA The song is universal, something to be played in weddings everywhere and his professionalism on stage is obvious. I think they were pretty much overrated last year by the juries due to their reputation but this year the song is only second to Bangaranga in social media virality
@Notox_Justsick It’s not exactly groundbreaking artistry, but it’s a nice song, it’s retro and fun and I think the performance itself leaned into the cheesy side of it. I really love it
@EUR0PAPA As an Italian, I have to disagree. Honestly I find the song mediocre, the lyrics too, and the live performance wasn't great either. The backing track was nice and he can definitely sing, but that's about it. Just my perspective btw
