Today, the EUIPO hosted an International Women’s Day conference on women and innovation, featuring a keynote by Mercedes Delgado. The event fostered dialogue on inclusion, equal opportunities and women’s participation in innovation and leadership.

Silvana Herrera, Ingenias LATAM Award winner, invented a sensory band for visually impaired people. At the IP Alliance Young Leadership Programme, she spoke about courage and persistence. Women represent just 18.2% of inventors in international patent applications (WIPI 2026).
