The digital identity regulation is now in force — Member States are now required to offer at least one EU Digital Identity Wallet to all Citizens and Residents, by 2026. 👇 Read more about what this means on our website.

The Reference Implementation roadmap lays out upcoming features being worked on as well as those planned for the future. The Reference Implementation consists of open-source code libraries, modular components, and a fully functioning reference application based on the Architecture Reference Framework (ARF). You will be able to use EU Digital Identity Wallets to access digital services, including certain private services. Providers of private services must accept the wallets at the request of the wallet user where strong user authentication is required.

For now the personal identification data provided by one Member State can only be used within the wallet provided by this Member State. But this does not matter as all national wallets will be completely interoperable and will work across the EU. 👇 Visit our FAQ for more:

A milestone in the EU Digital Identity Wallet project is reached, as the Commission adopts five implementing regulations laying down rules for the core functionalities and certification of the wallets. This means that in 24 months EU citizens will have access to wallets! 👇
