R2 Standard (Available First Half 2027): Starting at $48,490, the Standard trim redefines expectations for the mid-size SUV segment. The RWD Long Range configuration of Standard trim will be available in the first half of 2027. This variant delivers 350 horsepower and 355 lb-ft of torque, a 0-60 mph time of 5.9 seconds and boasts a Rivian-estimated range of up to 345 miles. Rivian is cancelling the Dual Standard R1. Rivian sent out an email titled “Dual Standard is ending.” The email says Rivian will be making lineup changes later this year and is encouraging customers to take advantage of current Dual Standard lease offers before the deadline. The current offer ends March 19. The Dual Standard has been Rivian’s lowest priced R1 configuration. It’s suspected to be their lowest margin product and has repeatedly faced battery software issues. With R2 coming, further separating the R1 and R2 product lines could make sense as a cheaper Rivian option arrives.

Spotted my 2nd R2 in the wild! This one is charging at a V3 in Vacaville CA but has Illinois Plates 👀 Must be on a road trip! Interesting the recovery hooks are missing tho… love the wrap!

Bringing back this R1S vs R2 vs R3 comparison I made a long time ago. You can really see how R2 sits right in the middle. Noticeably smaller than R1S, but still shares that shape. R3 is clearly the compact entry point. Rivian’s lineup strategy makes a lot more sense visually.
