Coaching is an important capability for leaders of all kinds and at all levels. Some of my favourite leadership books (ever) are on this list of "twelve essential books for leaders who coach" so I'm keen to read more of these recommendations: medium.com/wordsmakeworld… Thank you Andrea Mignolo

While women represent half of Canada’s population, they are still underrepresented in senior leadership positions. In 2020, women occupied just over 20.5% of seats on boards of directors. A shocking 59.7% of boards of directors did not have any women at all. #GenderEquality

Over the past nine months, @DrNicolaBurgess has created seven brilliant blogs on learning about leadership for improvement from the evaluation of the NHS-Virginia Mason Improvement Programme. I've collated them as a series of seven consecutive posts on my LinkedIn account. You can find them here: linkedin.com/in/helenbevanh… The graphics are by @tnvora. Thanks to @MrSteveLeach for putting all seven graphics on a single page.

(1/2) Female physicians contribute significantly as faculty, but they're underrepresented in leadership roles. Together, we can empower women, promote diversity, and shape a better future where women physicians have a seat at the table. #WomenInMedicine

In our research we found that women were told they were too young to lead, too old to lead...and middle age wasn't quite right either. As it turns out no age is the right age to be a woman leader. See my latest @HarvardBiz article for solutions. hbr.org/2023/06/women-…

Never quite right bias: As I told CNBC, looking at 913 responses, we realized that women were "being criticized for this and that and the other thing... The underlying gender bias was the cause & the criticisms are really just excuses the women were given.”cnbc.com/2023/06/07/wom…

Micromanagement has a terrible impact on psychological safety. Micromanaged teams always have low scores in assessments of psychological safety. To deal with it: 1) make efforts to find out if it's happening amongst the teams you lead (people usually don't tell spontaneously) 2) support people in their first leadership roles not to become micromanagers 3) if you're being micromanaged, take action with others 4) self-reflect on your own style sites.google.com/schrag.ca/cons… Via @jvschrag @tom_geraghty.
