It would be interesting to assess how many catering assistants on the @AforChildren contract across @RBKingston and @LBRUT have to apply for Universal Credit to pay their bills. Pay the required @LivingWageUK rate! @LibDems @RBKgreens @MayorofLondon

They don't!! School catering assistants employed through @RBKingston part-owned CIC @AforChildren do not receive the @LivingWageUK rate. They claim its a 'separate legal entity' and therefore not part of @LivingWageUK accreditation rules. Repellent moral gymnastics.

Accredited with @LivingWageUK since 2019 @RBKingston have found the money to increase Councillors allowances while denying school catering employees a Living Wage. 2024/25: A 2.5% increase was applied to councillor allowances. 2023/24: 3.88% increase 2022/23: 4.04% increase

Can @MayorofLondon persuade London Schools to adopt the @LivingWageUK rate for Catering Assistants? It is a 'principle' of his Free School Meals policy and one that schools largely ignore. Uptake would positively impact the lives of 1000s of key worker families.

Good news: the London Living Wage has increased to £14.80. Since I became Mayor, the number of employers paying the London Living Wage has increased seven-fold, and the rate itself has risen by nearly 60% - helping to make London a fairer city.

Good luck to the children of Hampshire Chartwells taking over the councils school catering contract As food costs rise again & staffing is hit by increases in Living Wages & NI, chartwells managed to undercut the previous providers price by 45p 🤔🙄
