Designed by San Francisco–based architect William Turnbull and built in 1992, our barn is currently undergoing a series of upgrades during our multi-year renovation project.

As our team catalogs the Eames Collection, we wanted to offer a weekly glimpse into their world with #EIFridayFinds. For #NationalLetterWritingMonth it seemed appropriate share a #rebus letter Charles Eames sent Lucia in 1935. Hit us up with your best guess as to what it says.

The program has grown to include workshops in Manila, Singapore, Berlin, London, Guadalajara, Busan, Copenhagen, and Detroit where @IshinomakiLab partners with Brightmoor Makerspace and foregoes their design and licensing fees to focus on training a new generation of woodworkers.

In a novel approach to global distribution, the company introduced Made in Local, an initiative whereby makers in different geographies produce the designs from local materials.

The brand’s products were initially conceived as easy to produce DIY designs that could be made with simple tools and materials to serve a community in need, but, with their refined simplicity, soon gained international appreciation.

Tokyo-based architect #keijiashizawadesign founded @ishinomakilab in 2011 as a way to help rebuild Ishinomaki, Japan, the coastal city ravaged by tsunamis after the Great Tōhoku earthquake.

The Eameses’ quest to create a comfortable and affordable shell chair from a single material led to two iconic designs. Our online exhibit “Form Follows Formulation” charts the circuitous origins and radical premise behind the Eameses’ fiberglass and wire chairs.

For over twenty years the #EamesRanch has been home to a flock of Corriedale and Shetland sheep and their faithful guard llama Lulu. In our quest to serve as a laboratory for regenerative agriculture we practice seasonal, rotational grazing. 📷 by @nicholascalcott
