@HockeyWithDevin Oh, no. It's Appleton. He's the worst regular forward on the team for xGF%. Legit BAD defensively (the worst xGA/60 among regular forwards). Zero offense. Doesn't do much PK or any PP. He's an absolute black hole.

Rasmussen is who he has always been, so idk if he qualifies for this IMO.
It's Compher for me, no question. Needed to look like he did in his first season with the Wings, but he continues to look like he did last season. Considering his pay rate, he's the most disappointing.

Regardless of how the rest of this season goes one thing is perfectly clear, this forward group needs a massive overhaul. McLellan is being charitable calling them a bunch of jerseys. A minimum of 3-4 guys need to be replaced, they bring no grit, no scoring, no fight, nothing.

JVR had the same number of points in those games, again without prime PP time (or as much 5v5 time/quality of linemates). Finnie was only two points back despite near-zero PP time.

First, Larkin's 5v5 production is worse than all of those guys, which should actually be the most worrying for a team that struggles at 5v5.
Second, JVR has almost as many PP points as Kane while averaging 1.5 fewer minutes/gm (with worse PP linemates).

@nrs82 @RedWingDiehards One problem is that you can't do p/gm because they play such different amounts. 5v5 p/60 is more helpful: JVR - 1.77; Kane - 1.66; Copp - 1.55; Compher - 1.45; and the rest are a decent amount worse. This certainly changes the perspective.

- Arguably the best D traded after Hughes
- Detroit upgrades in a meaningful way
However..
- This is a crazy price to pay for a 33 year old with only 1.5 years left on his contract.
All I’ll say is Detroit better make the playoffs.
