Great start. Settled and waited for others to help do some work. Respected and covered a move by 4:12 Palmer before moving past to break at 600. Held off Palmer at bell lap and surged to extend lead with 350 to go! Knew 4:07 Anderson was sitting and kicking. Hoped he would get boxed in like he did in the 800, but he got by Ethan and he didn’t have enough to hold off 4:17 Gray, who he beat a week before! This upcoming year is going to be a tough year to race Ethan Sanchez!

Huge year of improvement for JR Ethan Sanchez with his 1st State Championship appearances in XC, Indoor and Outdoor of his career! He secured his 1st All State Honor and and closed the gap significantly, beating 7A guys with fall PRs of 15:10, 15:18, 15:18, 15:19, 15:22, 15:23, 15:30, 15:33, 15:47, 15:48 and 15:51 this outdoor track season!

Last official day with Senior Alaina Swartzlander!! Her application for membership into”The Forest” has been accepted! 🪓 🌲

SO Landon Mitchell didn’t know where his place was on the track team last year! He lowered his 400 from 59.57 to 54.15 this outdoor season and you can see in workouts he’s hungrier than ever!

It’s been 17 years since East has qualified a Guys 4x800 relay to an Outdoor Track State Championship. SRs Gordon, Curnow, Kilar and Teeter finished 8th in a time of 8:06.07!!

It’s been 16 years since East has had a male distance runner at an Outdoor Track State Championship! Patrick Crawford finished 🥉 in both the 1600(4:16.02) and 3200(9:36.95)!!

It’s tough to imagine that SR Alaina Swartzlander has a 5k PR a touch over 20:50, but her recent PRs of 5:22 & 11:53(doubling) mean she’s ready for the Sub20 at Ivey Redmon, June 6th!

JR Ethan Sanchez looked good in his final laps of the 1600(4:21.62/2:04.59) on Saturday after already splitting a 1:59 in the 4x8! He will have a shot at the podium on Friday at the 7A State Championship!

Guys 4x800 overcame a trip and hard fall from 6’6” FR Keenen King to secure final at large seed! JRs Jacob Bangham(2:03.9) and Cole Bangham(2:04.6) made up for the eventual fall with SBs to secure a 2nd straight State Championship appearance!

BIGGEST improvement in the CPC for JR Ethan Sanchez and SR Alaina Swartzlander!! In just 1 year of a new training program, both runners spring-boarded onto the podium with 7 x 🥈 finishes in CPC/City County/Regional races(800-3200)! Fitter, faster and injury free as they laid groundwork for future runners who want the same progression!

Congratulations to JR Ethan Sanchez who arguably had the best distance day in 7A yesterday with a 1:59 split to help advance the guys 4x800 to States, 🥈 in a tactical 1600m(2:04.59 close) and 🥉 in the 3200 with another tactical effort(4:37.73/2:11.54 close) for his 3rd State Championship Qualifying Race of the day!! He now has qualified for 3 State Championships in a row with almost all of his runs being on his own!!

If there is anyone who deserved to go to their 1st State Championship of her entire career it was SR Alaina Swartzlander and she misses the final at large spot in the 1600 by .22!! She finishes this year growing from a 20:51.62PR at XC Regionals to 11:53.77PR in the 3200 with the majority of her runs all by herself! She was healthy all year with Runner Up finishes in the CPC Indoor 3200m, Scott Brent City County 3200m, and CPC Outdoor 1600m and went from chasing to leading to beating!! Congratulations on a fantastic SR season!
