I have no interest in football but I love BRAND WALES 🏴 football, amazing what the brand has achieved and the excitment it builds especially around bilingualism. I hope someone does a case study on this because it’s truly bendigedig #TogetherStronger

This is MASSIVE news.
Many believe the move to all-seater stadia from standing terraces has contributed to the deterioration of the Welsh rugby atmosphere.
If Manchester United prove safe-standing can function successfully in the U.K., the WRU must look at it as an option.

Manchester United have received permission to install barrier seats - standing with rails - at Old Trafford as a trial measure. Full story: bbc.in/2zBLtG9

Wales rugby fans begin campaign to improve atmosphere at international matches. Cracking little tale from 2nd year student @JackCookey exposport.co.uk/2020/02/19/how…
English

@ghostsofmerthyr Still not as good imo. Not recently
English

@EastTerraceSoc Are we comparing the same thing though? Wales rugby in the first game is not comparable with Wales football in a must win game. Now compare against Wales rugby in a 6 nations decider or when playing England last season.
English

Firstly, this is outstanding.
But as rugby fans, we need to be questioning why 68k isn’t currently matching 35k.
I don’t think it should be a competition, more that both sports should learn from and support the other.
The football are clearly doing something right atm.

Who sang it best? 35k football fans or 68k rugby fans? #Welshfootball #togetherstronger #theredwall #walesaway

Everyone who attended the Italy game and felt the atmos wasn’t good enough:
🔘 Fill out this survey
🔘 Suggest less corporate tickets
🔘 Say the atmosphere would benefit from grouping non-corporate tickets together
And anything else you think will help!

@ClarkyDrums @GregCaineMedia @richmiltiadis @principalitysta Tell Welsh football fans that. And everyone else in the video you're responding to. I highly doubt any of those people are religious.
English

@EastTerraceSoc @GregCaineMedia @richmiltiadis @principalitysta I'm all for noise and atmosphere, but songs like Calon Lan are religious. With fewet and fewer people buying in to that sort of nonsense it's just natural that it'll start to die out at games.
English

@kaaydaviesPR @GregCaineMedia @meigwilym Definitely! I think this, combined with a few thousand in one place who know the songs, could create an amazing atmos
English

@EastTerraceSoc @GregCaineMedia @meigwilym I think lyrics on the screen of traditional Welsh songs (Calon Lân, Bread of Heaven etc) would be a huge help! Many students who have come to love & support Wales attend games but don’t know the language and haven’t grown up with the songs. This could be huge! 🙌🏻
English

A few have suggested this. Think it’s a great idea, maybe with the use of an app. @meigwilym has developed canu.cymru which would be handy for this!
English

@ClarkyDrums @GregCaineMedia @richmiltiadis @principalitysta It wouldn’t need ‘enforcing’ - for me it would be as simple as highlighting the section as a singing area on the tickets and on the site when people buy them. None would be corporate, and a certain percentage would be made available to the clubs
English

@GregCaineMedia @richmiltiadis @principalitysta @EastTerraceSoc How would a singing section work? How would it be enforced?
English

@rant_rate @GregCaineMedia @principalitysta Cytuno. That’s part of the idea for a singing section, to try and get more groups sat together to create an atmosphere. I’m a Scarlets fan myself and know the difference a good crowd can make. Please sign the petition (link in our bio). Diolch.
English

@GregCaineMedia @principalitysta Gyda’r tocynnu yn costi’n agos at £100 mae rhan fwyaf yn mynd i’r corporate lot. Mae rhaid cael grwps o ffrindiau/clwbs rygbi I creu’r awyrgylch (fel mae’r Sgarlets yn creu pan ma nhw’n teithio)
CY

@ASWinstone Maybe - but it doesn’t! So we need to do what we can to improve it. Bread of Heaven gets a bit more of an uptake but it’s still nothing in relative terms, few 100 if we’re lucky which doesn’t transfer to the rest of the stadium.
English

@EastTerraceSoc Bread of heaven is still popular. Heard that at last years 2 6n games
If the principality stadium held just 30k I'm sure the atmosphere would be more comparable to the football as you wouldn't have as many casuals.
