🌱 Empowering women in North Kivu through mushroom farming! COOCENKI continues to strengthen the economic empowerment of women in Rutshuru and Lubero through an innovative oyster mushroom production and marketing project, supported by Eastern Congo Initiative. 💡 Two pilot mushroom houses serve as learning centers, training 250 women in modern cultivation techniques while providing them with adapted production kits. 🥢 Already, an initial 11.5 kg harvest marks the beginning of a promising path toward larger-scale production. KIVU KUKU Poultry Farm, based in Goma, continues to stand out - not only for producing chicks, eggs, animal feed, and processed chicken meat - but also for its strong social commitment. In 2025, thanks to emergency funding from ECI, the company successfully restarted operations after a difficult period, rehiring staff and supporting hundreds of vulnerable women. In February 2026, members of the Association des Mamans Veuves de Sarepta (AMAVESA) received training in poultry farming and modern meat processing techniques - strengthening their economic independence and resilience in Eastern DRC.
