@ScotRoadArchive Big changes on the left, Safeway well gone, also the silver building which was an event space, can’t remember name, gone, worked on the earthworks for the Safeway, infilled the surrounding roads to form it.

We're off to the North East today! Here's a photo of the Stonehaven Bypass where work is underway to construct the dual carriageway at the Fetteresso Viaduct. Certainly a famous landmark on the way to Aberdeen. 🚧🤩 #archives #scotland #civilengineering #history

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of Douglas Anderson. Douglas was a true visionary in the world of hire, and his life dedicated to the business has enabled GAP to be where it is today. This is an incredibly tough time for all our family. It goes without saying, along with the rest of the Board, we will continue to build on Douglas’ legacy. Mark and Iain Anderson

Today we are on the A739 between Shieldhall and Linthouse, seen under construction in this 1967 pic. The cranes on the Clyde are long gone, while the high rises of Broomhill remain. Southern General on the left and lots of great cars visible too. #archives #glasgow #carspotting

Happy Boxing Day! This new wintry image of #Glasgow's M8 motorway at Townhead from late #1980s certainly fits this time of the year, with our often gloomy weather. Why not have some fun identifying the vehicles pictured? #carspotting! 🏙🛣️🚗🚗 #archives #Scotland

December 1968 saw the completion of the A725 Bellshill Bypass. Designed by Babtie and built by Whatlings, it provided a link between the M74 at Raith and the A8. This photo shows the road under construction at Orbiston and the view towards Hamilton. #archives #Christmas #1960s

@ScotRoadArchive Not much changed there! Dick Hampton was the earth works company who shaped most of Cumbernauld back in the 60s, they said it was the job that they lost a fortune on due to the weather, they where also the earthworks contractor on the M74 at Hamilton around the same time.

#ThenAndNow When the first section of the M8 Harthill Bypass opened the service area hadn't yet been constructed. This view, from 1966 and looking west from Westcraigs Road overbridge, shows a sparse looking view compared to now! #Edinburgh #Archives

Much of the A80 was rebuilt in the 1950s & 60s. This photo, taken in 1963, shows construction of the road at Old Inns, Cumbernauld. The original carriageway is visible on the right. The service station (the white building) is still open as a Shell garage today. #archives

The M90 between Arlary and Bridge of Earn was built in two phases, opening in March 1977 and October 1980. Babtie Shaw & Morton was the main designer and the contractors were Whatlings and Tarmac Construction. #Archives #Scotland

#OnThisDay in 2011 the M74 Completion project was opened to traffic. It has become an important link in #Glasgow's motorway network. Here's the impressive Port Eglinton Viaduct under construction in August 2010. 🚧🛣 #Archives

@ScotRoadArchive Some difference now, Broxden roundabout looks totally different now, list of sub contractors a blast from the past, KPC, Kings, all long gone, one of KPCs last big jobs would have been M74 Douglas to Abington I think.

The Perth Western Bypass was officially opened on the 17th September 1985. It was one of the last sections of the A9 upgrade to open. Want to know more? Check out the opening booklet! 😍 #archives #scotland
