Authorities in Maine have ruled that the fire at the historic Dennysville-Edmunds Congregational Church, which has served the community since 1834, was arson and are now appealing for information to identify the person responsible. The blaze broke out shortly before 8 a.m. on July 20, with investigators determining it started near the rear of the church. Firefighters brought the flames under control quickly, preventing them from spreading through the main structure and limiting the damage largely to the outside of the building. No one was inside at the time and no injuries were reported. The church is one of the community's historic landmarks.
