The rhetoric coming from Minister @NalindaJay is a chilling confirmation of the #NPP’s true agenda: replacing "System Change" with a system of absolute control.
Threatening to use the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and the Online Safety Act to "crack down" on dissent is the ultimate betrayal of the mandate they were given. As a journalist, I see a dangerous Grey Area where the state is no longer distinguishing between legitimate criticism and "terrorism."
By specifically targeting networks like Hiru TV and threatening journalists with the draconian #PTA, the government is effectively saying that accountability is now a criminal offense. You cannot claim to be a "World Class" administration while using the same authoritarian tools you once protested against. This isn't governance; it's a digital and legal siege on the fourth estate.
The public voted for transparency, not a "New Culture" where questioning the math behind a coal scam or a politician's assets earns you a visit from the CID. If the law is only used to shield the elite from scrutiny, then the "New Political Culture" is just the old guard in a red shirt.
