We're excited to officially announce the two keynote speakers for the SUMO Conference 2026: Prof. Dr. Carolina Osorio and Prof. Dr. Peter Wagner!

Due to numerous requests from participants, we are pleased to announce that the submission deadline for papers, posters, and SUMO moments has been extended by one week. New submission deadline: Sunday, March 01, 2026 - 23:59 UTC.

This release brings multiple features and fixes relating to public transport which affect network import, GTFS import, simulation behavior and output. It also fixes various bugs related to lane changing and roundabouts.

In the ongoing effort to enhance community participation we decided to do a regular Zoom meeting for discussing development and open GitHub issues. It is currently scheduled every second Thursday at 10:00 a.m. CET, starting on the 15th of January.

This year is extra special as we celebrate the 🎉 25th anniversary of SUMO. For this, we are introducing a new submission category: "SUMO Moments", where you can share a short reflection, anecdote, or milestone from your own work with SUMO.

We are excited to announce the upcoming SUMO Conference 2026, and we warmly invite you to contribute! The conference will take place from June 1-4 in Berlin-Adlershof, and this year, we're thrilled to host it at a larger venue to accommodate even more participants.
