The Jobs, Economy and Fair Work committee is excited to share its plan for the next year with you all! We intend to campaign for young people to learn just how instrumental trade unions have been to protecting workers rights over the years, and why they remain so important today

Very productive session on the last day of #SYP77 led by Convenor @maksinkster about preparing our committee for the next sitting!!

📢🚆 We are planning to run all hospital services as normal if the #TrainStrikes go ahead on Tuesday 21, Thursday 23 & Saturday 25 June. However, we would urge all patients and visitors to plan your journey in advance if attending our hospitals next week➡️bit.ly/3b7YvOl

Now onto Committee Motions. This is from both the @SYP_Economy & @SYP_Equalities Committees on the topic of The Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Employment Gap. #SYP74 The Motion passes with 98% of votes in agreement.

Our Convenor presented a joint motion with the EQU committee today about the employment gap for BAME individuals as well as the lack of career support and advice given. This is a really important issue in this country and we urge you to back this motion today! #SYP74

Concerned to see that the gap between under 18s minimum wage and the over 25s wage has widened yet again - with under 18s getting a measly 7p increase on their wage. We must do better for young people, especially in the middle of a pandemic

Members of @ScotParl will today debate the general principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill. Education Secretary @JohnSwinney says the legislation will enshrine children’s rights in Scots law. #UNCRCScotland #UNCRC
