@OllyAllison @squadnos I agree this would be better but I’m basing it on what I think Tuchel will actually do based on his recent squads. Numbers seem to be allocated on seniority now rather than who’s starting, which is why Henderson will get 8 IMO. This is how they lined up vs Serbia for example:

What are you talking about obsessing over the big clubs? He has left out anyone good outside of the “big six” to put in Henderson who’s reputation is built on Liverpool, Madueke because he plays for Arsenal and Djed Spence who plays in a defence that has conceded 57 goals.

@ofmilesfromhome @chrscnvry @squadnos Oh I agree 100%. I’m just basing this on recent Nations League games I’ve watched. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Konsa gets 2 (assuming Stones makes the squad and takes his usual 5), James takes 3, and Hall and O’Reilly both have to settle for numbers outside of 1-11.

@chrscnvry @squadnos I have a funny feeling Reece James will get 3 as he’s worn it in the last few squads, despite playing right-back. I get the impression players are now choosing their numbers based on seniority (much like Spain do it) rather than the manager allocating by position.

@squadnos For example - Lewis Hall - for me he will start - but will he get number 3 ? Same with Elliot Anderson I looked on the FA website and the only numbers / names that they offer when buying the new kit is = Rice 4; Saka 7 & Kane 9
