@EdFromFreelance

I've written full-time about mobile tech for 25 years, and used it for much longer. You might remember me from Palm Infocenter, Brighthand or Tablet PC Review.

This was something the internet really wanted to see at the Oscars last night: Grogu clapping.

When writing about the MacBook Neo's RAM, I really want to make a reference to "Eight Is Enough", and it really pains me that the show has been off the air for 40 years so no one will get the joke. #MacBookNeo

@clmacman @cultofmac This is an option: get an MacBook Air. The MacBook Neo is for first-time computer buyers, and whether they need 16GB of RAM for email and online shopping is questionable.

@iM4CH3T3 @cultofmac There’s Safari, Mail, Messages, FaceTime, and every app that comes on the iPhone. Apple can’t make a 12-year-old iPhone as good as a newer one. But if you still want to use one, you can.

@cultofmac I don’t think there are a lot of supported apps for iOS 12 to use it for years to come…

@cultofmac I have one and I love how smart Anker's tiny wall charger is. I plug it into my iPhone 17 and it instantly knows the handset's battery level! No risk of overcharging.

🔥 DEAL OF THE DAY: This tiny 45W wall from Anker is smart. It recognizes recent iPhones and adjusts its power output for max speed without abusing the device’s battery. Limited-time sale slashes 25% off: dlvr.it/TQkzdX

@cultofmac Makes sense. The last few episodes of Monarch Season 1 moved all the action to the modern era to there's no longer a role in the main show for young Lee Shaw — played in the 1950s segments by Wyatt Russell. A spinoff starring him seems reasonable.

@BasicInteger @cultofmac You find lots of things on your Mac: Control Panels, appointments, addresses, and more. “Finder” is a failure at finding most of them. It’s a files application. Call it that.

@cultofmac So, Finder is a silly name, but not Explorer, Dolphin, Nautilus, Commander, or any of the rest? I’m not sure I understand how Finder is a silly name given that that’s what it’s for: finding files, folders, applications, etc.

@MILE @cultofmac Mac makes up less than 10% of the global computer makers. That won't change as long basic macOS functions assume you're a long time Mac user.

@cultofmac In its early days, Google assembled its servers out of cheap, used or borrowed parts, and the search engine was unreliable. Many years later, these problems have been fixed. The same goes for Apple Maps. A weak beginning is no indication of how it’s doing over a decade later.

@cultofmac If your response is “Then I’m switching to Google Maps,” then you need to know that it’s had ads for years. Waze? Also has ads.
