Marcelo better back this up with his play. Has performed commendably but hasn't ever carried the offense the way Contreras has. You want to prove Willson wrong? Go ahead and do it.

A part of me feels like the just decided that they didn't need Skubal to put down the Red Sox lineup and instead allowed him some rest.

Tarik Skubal has been scratched for the Tigers, per @JonHeyman. What a gift for a Red Sox offense that is starving for an ounce of momentum. Am I confident they’ll take advantage? Nope. But this is best-case scenario with Valdez set for tomorrow.

Nope, it's bad. Unfortunately, the only way to fix anything is if the players simply play better baseball. I don't want Mayer to publicly push back; I want him to think "blame it on the rookies? Fuck you," and outplay everyone else. Use that frustration for something productive.

Detroit ace Tarik Skubal will undergo surgery to remove loose bodies in his left elbow. Such procedures typically sideline players for 2-3 months. Skubal should return before season's end, but a tough blow for the impending free agent and two-time reigning AL Cy Young winner.

The defense has been awesome. Unfortunately, you need to score more runs than the other team to win. Run prevention alone isn't enough.

Red Sox team defense rankings: DRS: 1st OAA: 1st FRV: 1st Best defensive team in baseball so far, hands down. Yet they’re 13-21. Says something about the merits of building a team around defense.

Alec Gamboa & Tommy Kahnle both had upward mobility clauses for 5/1... likely resolved by ~today.

@EdHand89 No but Contreras used a blanket term which includes Mayer. So it’s fair to say the veterans are letting down the team probably more than any young player.

@EdHand89 Well Marcelo actually is contributing unlike basically anyone else so I can see why he would take a little offense to this. Moral of the story is the team sucks and losing causes this type of drama to happen
