Samira is only 20. She is a Black Palestinian young woman sheltering with her family in a UNRWA school that now holds about 70 displaced families. Her father was killed when Israel demons bombed their home. They have been displaced three times and have nothing left. Her brothers were both shot. One was hit in the leg by a quadcopter. The other, Baha, was shot in the head while trying to reach aid. The injury left him blind and paralyzed on his right side. He has regained some sight and limited movement, but doctors say he needs treatment outside Gaza. The family cannot afford to leave or pay for care. Samira says she feels neglected. She believes that being Black in Palestine means she is overlooked even in her own suffering. Her fundraising campaign has been running for more than eight months and has received only £144. She sees that number as proof that people sees her as less. She's 20. Barely out of her teens. All the insecurities that comes at that age with trying to hold a family together on top of it. I just saw a post from her saying she feels suicidal. It was alarming. She is 20 and carrying pressure that would break anyone. She probably feels this way because she doesn’t feel seen. She is trying to keep her family alive in a genocide and the hardship of surviving every day is wearing her down. We need to change that. We need to give her some hope and show her that people do see her and care about what she and her family are going through. At 20 most of us were in school, planning our futures, going out with friends, trying to figure out our lives. Samira is responsible for an entire family. She is caring for her baby sister Nour who needs diapers and her younger sister Biqlis who needs medication for an ear infection. She is trying to protect them in a place not fit for human survival. As a community we can show her that she is seen. We can show her that her life matters and that people are willing to stand with her and her family. Please donate if you can.
