A great deal of research has been conducted on what makes great schools great, or at least effective schools effective. Through my own research, I have identified seven primary factors that enable schools to see improvement over time. cace.org/sustainable-sc…

24 hours in Texas to lead a day of Teaching for Transformation training. It's important to start these trips off on the right foot.

Hooray - accepted for multiple presentations at a conference. On phone call: Them: “If we had known you weren’t an educator, we wouldn’t have accepted you.” Me: [pause] “I am an educator.” Them: “Oh...I mean a real one.” #ouch #goingtobringit #amazinglearning

Thanks to @jarielbailey for this beautiful prayer: “Lord, help me to know that I am safe so that I can be brave.” May it be so.

Watch a teacher make roughly ~1,000 instructional decisions in about 45 seconds. Only a few of them are about the lesson but the lesson depends on ALL of them. This is one of the hardest things to explain about teaching to people who have never taught.

Honestly, I don’t believe folks who say “new laws won’t change anything” on guns… in part because many of those same folks are actively working to change abortion laws because they know that laws change things. We KNOW that laws can save lives. The red line here is when Republicans ended the 1994 assault weapons ban in 2004.

One of my favorite facets of the Teaching for Transformation framework is that we Reframe and Rename aspects of our work. The truth is, a new name changes the lens through which content is perceived and taught. cace.org/power-in-a-nam…

If you are a school administrator, educator, or parent, you have likely been bombarded with information about online learning since the pandemic. However, no two online programs are alike, so it helps to start by asking the right questions. cace.org/online-learnin…
