The Edina Police Department is investigating a burglary and requesting the public’s help identifying a suspect. Around 3 a.m. Monday, April 20, the suspect forcibly entered an apartment complex, then entered several vehicles and stole items. If you can identify the suspect or have any information about this incident, contact EdinaPoliceTips@EdinaMN.gov and reference case #26022637. Tips can remain anonymous.

This year’s national EMS Week theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” highlights the teamwork and collaboration behind emergency medical care. From dispatchers and firefighters to hospital staff, law enforcement and community members, EMS professionals work alongside many partners to provide lifesaving care when it matters most. The Edina Fire Department’s Paramedic/Firefighters respond to emergencies with compassion, professionalism and expertise, helping people through some of life’s most critical moments. As Police Week comes to a close, we reflect on the meaning behind the badge and honor the sacrifice, courage and commitment carried by law enforcement officers every day. We remember those who gave their lives in service, those who continue to serve with integrity, and the families who support them through it all. This week, Edina officers stood guard at the Minnesota Peace Officers Memorial, honoring fallen officers and their lasting legacy. Edina officers also represented the City at National Police Week events in Washington, D.C., where they provided motorcycle escorts for the families of fallen officers. To Edina officers, staff, volunteers and community partners: thank you for your dedication and service. And to our community, thank you for your trust and support. Police Week may end today, but the remembrance and gratitude continue every day after.

As part of National Police Week, our final “Police Week Profile” feature is Officer Cameron Stewart. Stewart joined the Edina Police Department as a cadet in 2024 and was promoted to officer in 2025. Before coming to Edina, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and later worked as a security officer while completing his Law Enforcement degree at Hennepin Technical College. Stewart shared that one of the things he enjoys most about policing is that every day is different and brings new opportunities to help people and connect with the community. “I think it’s important for people to see officers as humans with families, thoughts and feelings,” he said. “We have a strong desire to serve others and help people when they need it most.” Stewart said he always knew he wanted to become a police officer and was immediately drawn to Edina after learning more about the department while attending school in Minnesota. His favorite place in Edina is Arneson Acres because he visited this park with his wife before they were engaged. Edina Police: Around 3:29 am on 05/15/2026, there was a large police presence in the 7500 block of Bush Lake Road. A vehicle fled a traffic stop and was found abandoned in this area. Officers were unable to locate the suspect. The incident has been cleared. No further updates.

As part of National Police Week, we’re continuing our “Police Week Profiles” series to get to know the officers behind the badge. Next up is Detective Joel Moore, who joined the Edina Police Department in 2001. Throughout his career, Moore has served as a patrol officer, field training officer, SWAT operator and retail crime investigator before joining the Financial Crimes Task Force. He was promoted to Detective in 2016 and primarily investigates a variety of crimes, including burglaries, robberies, shootings, suspicious deaths and homicide cases. Moore shared that one of the things he enjoys most about investigations is putting the puzzle pieces together to solve cases. Over the course of his career, he has seen technology dramatically change police work — from handwritten reports early in his career to modern tools like drones, cell phone data and license plate reader technology that help investigators solve crimes more quickly and effectively. He also reflected on the emotional weight that can come with investigative work and the lasting impact certain cases can have on officers throughout their careers. “This job can take a toll on you over time,” Moore said. “There are cases that stay with you. Police Week is an important time to recognize the sacrifices officers make and honor those who gave their lives serving others.” Thank you to Detective Joel Moore for his nearly 25 years of service and dedication to the Edina community! #PoliceWeek2026

As part of National Police Week, we’re continuing our “Police Week Profiles” series to get to know the officers behind the badge. Next up is Sgt. Emily Jepson, who joined the Edina Police Department in 2014. Throughout her career, she has served in a variety of roles, including patrol officer, community engagement officer, use of force instructor, crisis negotiator, peer support team member and wellness committee liaison. She was promoted to Sergeant in 2023. Jepson shared that one of her favorite parts of her current role is mentoring newer officers and helping them grow in confidence throughout their careers. “When officers get to do the work they’re passionate about, they provide excellent service,” Jepson said. “That’s what our community expects and deserves.” Her photo was taken at the Fire Station 2 physical conditioning room, one of her favorite spots in Edina. Jepson said having access to wellness resources and support from department leadership is critical to helping officers stay healthy both on and off duty throughout their careers. “Keep thanking officers when you see them in public,” Jepson said. “They’re sacrificing a piece of themselves for you. Next up is Officer Travis Larson, who joined the Edina Police Department in 2021 after previously serving with the White Earth Police Department and the Carver County Sheriff’s Office. He currently serves on patrol and is assigned as Edina’s Traffic Safety Officer, a grant-funded role focused on impaired driving enforcement and traffic safety. In addition to patrol, Larson serves as a motorcycle officer, field training officer, phlebotomist, SWAT team member, and drug recognition evaluator. He shared that one of the things he enjoys most about patrol is that every shift is different and gives officers the opportunity to stay active and engaged in the community. One of the things he appreciates most about Edina is the strong community support for public safety programs and training opportunities. “We have an incredible community,” Larson said. “The support we receive and the investment in our programs really allows us to do our jobs well and better serve residents.” His photo was taken at one of his favorite spots in Edina, Braemar Golf Course. Edina Police: There is a large police presence occurring now, 6:45 am on 05/12/2026, in the 7000 block of McCauley Trail. Edina SWAT executed a search warrant. The scene is secured and there is no threat to the public. No more updates will be sent.

May 10-16 is National Police Week. Each year, communities across the country pause to honor fallen law enforcement officers, support surviving families and recognize those who continue serving every day. Throughout the week, we’ll be featuring “Police Week Profiles” to help you get to know the officers behind the badge. Starting off the week is Sgt. Jason Behr. Behr started with the Edina Police Department in 1998 as a Community Service Officer and was promoted to officer in 2000. Throughout his career, he has served in many roles, including SWAT team member for 16 years, K-9 handler for seven years, detective, firearms instructor, use of force instructor, field training officer and Explorer advisor. He has been a sergeant since 2023 and helped launch the department’s drone program. Behr said some of the most meaningful parts of his career have been mentoring future officers through the Explorer program and supporting families of fallen officers through Law Enforcement United, a nonprofit organization that raises money for families and survivors of fallen officers. “Police Week is about honoring the fallen and remembering the survivors,” Sgt. Behr said. “It’s important to recognize the people behind the badge and their commitment to serving others.” His photo was taken at the Edina Police K-9 Memorial, which he shared is one of his favorite spots in the city. Edina Police: Around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, there was a large police presence in the 5100 block of Vernon Avenue due to a person in crisis. The person was assisted by officers and transported to an area hospital. No further updates.

Today, on International Firefighters Day, we’re proud to recognize and thank the dedicated Paramedic/Firefighters who serve our community every day! From emergency response to lifesaving care, their commitment, courage and compassion make a lasting impact in Edina. We’re also excited to officially welcome three new members to the team, Paramedic/Firefighters Jada Horbach and Clayton Rutschow, and Fire Marshal Garrett Grniet. They were sworn in on Friday, May 1, and we’re grateful to have them joining our team. Please join us in thanking all of our Firefighters today and welcoming our newest team members! 🚒

Edina Police: Around 10:45 a.m., Friday, May 1, officers were called to the 6300 block of York Ave. S. on the report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found one adult victim was shot. The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) with serious injuries. The suspect left the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived, and was arrested in Brooklyn Park, MN around noon. At this time, officers believe the victim and suspect are known to each other, and this shooting was not random. Edina Police received assistance from multiple agencies on this incident, including, Edina Fire Department, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, St. Louis Park Police Department, Eden Prairie Police Department, Richfield Police Department, Bloomington Police Department, Hopkins Police Department and Brooklyn Park Police Department. This investigation is ongoing; no further updates.

Edina Fire's newest Paramedic/Firefighters have been busy getting hands-on experience before they officially join the team Friday! Recently, they trained at the former Fire Station 2, working alongside Captain Link and Paramedic/Firefighter Hilliard. The crew focused on: • Ventilation — Removing smoke and hazardous gases from structures, and seeing how the air pushes through different spaces • Auto extrication — Safely removing patients from vehicles after crashes This type of real-world training builds the skills and confidence needed to respond when it matters most. We look forward to officially welcoming these new hires during their swearing-in ceremony tomorrow!

Around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, the search concluded for a driver who abandoned a vehicle near Abercrombie Drive and Everett Place. Officers confirmed the driver left the area before they arrived. There is no need to avoid the Abercrombie Drive/Everett Place area any longer. No further updates.

Edina Police: Around 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 29, officers located a vehicle wanted by another local agency. The vehicle fled from officers and was found abandoned near Abercrombie Drive and Everett Place. Officers are working to find the driver. Please avoid the area until further notice and report any suspicious activity to 9-1-1. More updates to come.
