Was fab to travel to a windy and rainy Portobello to speak to GP Rachel Phillips - she says she's not an expert in alcohol, but she's certainly an expert in helping patients and getting her message across. Resources are worth a look IMO. @SHAAPScotland

@MaggieChapman using our evidence in yesterday's debate to challenge how we think about substance misuse in prisons... "If 63% of the prisoner population has alcohol use disorder, that is not a prison problem, that is a public health emergency playing out behind closed doors."

A wake up call here: when your child or teenager sees zero alcohol brands plastered over the Six Nations they are actually seeing alcohol marketing. And this increases their chances of drinking earlier in life, and developing an alcohol problem.

Essential reading for incoming MSPs and Scottish Government👇. England had evidence-based alcohol marketing restrictions ready to go... The alcohol industry had them removed them in a week. This is the same playbook they'll use in Scotland.

This paper highlights that increasing MUP can reduce harm and but loses effectiveness if not increased over time - suggesting that governments who seek to introduce MUP should also consider automatic increases in the legislation. bit.ly/4qfWfq9

Alcohol was banned at football matches to curb disorder. Emergency services see a rise in demand and pressure after big matches. Instead of expanding availability of alcohol consideration should be given to restricting its availability at all sports events bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
