@tallsnail When mine dropped naps by 18 months, I was sad only until I realized they were going to bed at 6:30ish.

it's true tho, parents of kids who sleep 14 hours a day are living a fundamentally different lifestyle than parents of 10–11 hour sleepers
3 extra hours every day. that's a side job. that's a second life
not trying to complain, i actually love maximizing my time with my kid and I simply pay for babysitters when I need a break, but damn
English

mom of ~same age child at the library asked about my son's sleep schedule
when I told her, she went silent and said, "forgive me for saying this, but I don't know how I would live like that"
i was like girl! you would. you would complain. you would have slumber parties with your kid. you would survive👍

One of the most important parts of Fahrenheit 451 is a little throwaway simile that Bradbury inserts as Montag walks through the house of the old lady who is reported for having books by her neighbor.
She doesn't just have some books. Her multi-story house is packed with them. Piles of them shift as Montag moves about, spraying them with kerosene. Bradbury writes, "A book alighted, almost obediently, like a white pigeon, in his hands, wings fluttering."
I asked them to stop and think about why Bradbury might have used that image; why the "white pigeon".
This is what these 7th graders came up with. (To be fair, they said "being saved" and I gave them the vocabulary word, "salvation").
I promise: they know things and, even better, THEY WANT TO KNOW MORE. The hardest part is proving that what they already know MATTERS and is a key that can unlock more.

@SketchesbyBoze I was at an 11:00 p.m. release for a book last spring. Most recent Hunger Games book. At Barnes and Noble.

@AdamPage85 We're thankful that we waited because we were much more patient parents than we would have been if we had had children earlier/younger.
English

I am 40 and my wife is 41. We were married at 25 and 26. We didn’t start having kids until 28 and 29. Two years of that wait were unexplained infertility. Once it happened, three kids followed the first kid. Our one wish? We would’ve married earlier, started right away instead of waiting two years before trying to have children, hopefully having more than four. God plans our steps and He redeems our choices. But if the couple is following Christ, our advice to them is to skip a long engagement, get married, and have babies. A true treasure.

@spencerbennett1 @sage_stage Not to mention the number of times I've been told I'm boring or not nice or not fair because I expect them to do their assignment and turn it in on time when they've had ample time/resources to complete the assignment in class. :)
English

@sage_stage When I hear students complain about teachers, they will often say things like:
“That teacher isn’t fair”
“They are boring”
“I don’t understand what their expectations are”
“They are not nice”
This is by no means and exhaustive list, but many of these are in the teachers control
English

@spencerbennett1 @sage_stage I have heard all of those at various times about various teachers, even the most popular ones on campus. Because it's cool to complain about teachers. Students' feelings about teachers changes every few minutes so I don't base any of my self-worth on that.

@BiblicalBeauty Well, parents are being arrested when their middle school children are doing anything without them, whether it be going to a convenience store or playing in their backyard.
So it's summer camps or hope nothing happens when both parents have to work.

some filmmakers spend their entire lives trying to achieve what this vid does. betrayal, tension, stakes (picture day tomorrow) all perfectly communicated through dialogue and a still camera angle. and the open ending? teasing the main antagonist in the last 5 seconds? cinema.

@HaydenHewitt Yes, a lot of vet practices have been bought out and are very much for-profit. Not because of the veterinarians, but because of what owns the clinic.

@WonderWomaNinja Ours needed melatonin to reset their sleep cycle. And listened to radio stories at night to go to sleep.
Followed by waking them up at a set time every morning.
Not fun, but necessary for them in order to function as decent human beings.

@faithmaycreate It's a big hormonal overload. You can choose to win completely or choose to nurse through the pregnancy. Either way, we'll be all right.
