We’re asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the driver of the vehicle pictured. On the morning of May 15, a mother was dropping her child off at a daycare near 15th and Kelly when a suspect stole her purse from her vehicle. A brief pursuit was initiated by officers, but called off as they approached an elementary school. The suspect vehicle is described as a white Dodge Durango displaying a black and yellow vanity plate reading “TIRESLYR,” which is not a valid or traceable registration plate. Mother’s Day evening shift: stopping traffic and negotiating with some very protective Canada geese. 🪿🚓 Edmond Police Officers Guilemette and Bell stopped traffic to help this goose family safely cross 4 busy lanes. Some brave citizens stepped in when the curb was too high for the goslings. Some words were exchanged between the geese and the officers… but at the end of the day — and on Mother’s Day evening — you’ve gotta appreciate a sassy mama protecting her babies. 💛

Edmond Police Chief J.D. Younger announced during a press conference this afternoon that investigators have arrested 18-year-old Jaylan Davis in connection with the Arcadia Lake shooting investigation. Following the passing of 18-year-old Avianna Smith-Gray, the charge will now be upgraded to Felony Murder. This investigation remains ongoing. We are saddened to confirm that an 18-year-old young woman has passed away from injuries sustained in the Arcadia Lake shooting on Sunday night. Our thoughts are with her loved ones, as well as all those affected by this tragic incident. We thank our community and media partners for their patience and understanding as we work to confirm details and release appropriate information. This investigation is being handled with the utmost care and seriousness. The Edmond Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred just after 9:00 p.m. at a party at Arcadia Lake. Edmond Police, along with Oklahoma City Police and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, responded to the scene and located numerous victims. Emergency personnel transported 10 victims to various metro-area hospitals. The total number of victims is expected to change as additional individuals transported themselves to area hospitals. There is no update on victim conditions at this time. There are no suspects in custody. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Edmond Police Department at (405) 359-4338. We enjoyed hosting students from Santa Fe High School’s Civil & Criminal Law classes at the Edmond Police Department! Today, 23 students toured the department and learned about the many different roles within law enforcement. Last Friday, we welcomed another 35 students from a different class period for the same experience.

2026 Oklahoma SWAT Competition

The Edmond Police Department is proud to share that our SWAT team earned 3rd place overall at this year’s statewide SWAT competition, competing against some of the best teams in Oklahoma. Their performance showcased outstanding skill, teamwork, and resilience, with top finishes in multiple events: • 1st Place – Team Obstacle Course • 2nd Place – Officer Rescue (just shy of 1st) • 2nd Place – Team Pistol Competition • 3rd Place – 2-Gun Competition A special congratulations to Sergeant Dillon Dennis, who took 1st place in the Supercop individual event, demonstrating elite-level performance. This competition highlights the dedication and professionalism our SWAT team brings to protecting our community every day. We couldn’t be more proud.
