It is my honour to pass the baton to my dear sister, the Hon Shirley @AyorkorBotchwey, who will succeed me as the next Commonwealth Secretary-General. She will be uniquely blessed, as I have been, to hold this office and serve our precious Commonwealth.

I’m honoured and humbled by the trust of Commonwealth leaders. A lot of work lies ahead. But together, we shall work for a New Commonwealth that works for all its citizens.

Truly humbled by the overwhelming support of the Commonwealth Heads of Government in selecting me as the incoming Secretary-General of the Commonwealth. The work indeed lies ahead!

Earlier today I held a meeting with the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, H. E. Most Rev. Henryk M. JAGODZINSKI. We discussed matters of common interest between the Holy See and the Republic of Ghana and I acknowledged the invaluable support of the Catholic Church to Ghana.

I am glad to have hosted H.E. Meshal Hamdan Al-Rogi, who is completing his tour of duty as Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Ghana. I commended him for his efforts at deepening the existing excellent and long-standing relations between the Ghana and Saudi Arabia.

The Holy Spirit has never inspired anyone to plot the downfall of others.

Whatever keeps God’s presence far from you comes to an end today!
