Speaking at the national policy dialogue on financing public education in Uganda, Education International Africa Regional Director Dr. Dennis Sinyolo reminded stakeholders that the education financing crisis is bigger than one country, but the response must start now. As presented at the dialogue, 44 million new teachers are needed globally to achieve SDG 4 by 2030, while Sub-Saharan Africa needs at least 15 million to replace attrition and reduce class sizes. At a National policy dialogue on Education Financing organised by UNATU with support from @eduint, @dsinyolo participants heard a clear message from Dr. Dennis Sinyolo, EI Africa Regional Director: “Invest in education and teachers NOW!” The urgency is real. Stakeholders in Uganda’s education sector have renewed the call for increased funding for public education following a high-level national policy dialogue organised by UNATU with support from @EduintAfrica . The engagement brought together representatives from the Ministry of Education and Sports, Members of parliament, the National Curriculum Development Centre, the Uganda National Examinations Board, the Uganda National Institute for Teacher Education, teacher leaders, and education partners to discuss the urgent need to invest more in teachers, school infrastructure, operational support, and teaching and learning resources The message from the dialogue was clear: public education remains the primary pathway for most learners in Uganda, and stronger financing is essential if the country is to achieve equitable, inclusive, and quality education for all. @dsinyolo @MayTbirungi @JosephSsewungu @UNICEFUganda @eduint @baguma_filbert @MargaretRwabus1 @uniteuganda24 @NCDCUg @UNEB_UG #EducationFinancing #GoPublic #FundEducation #UNATU #PublicEducation
