@Geniustechw Leave. I hear North Korea is nice this time of year.

BREAKING: Connecticut Governor @NedLamont just signed a bill that limits what ICE can and cannot do.
Every state in America should get behind this legislation!

@Watchman_motto A golden age of American domestic architecture.

@Monarchies2000 @RoyalFamily An action that does nothing to improve anything. To the contrary, it further deteriorates the quality of debate and thoughtful deliberation of legislation in the upper house.

1/3👇👑🇬🇧 @RoyalFamily

In pleasanter times this woman would have been a rosy cheeked grandmother baking treats and preserving fruit for her extended family, playing the organ at church, and helping people in her community. Instead we see this ugly waste of a time in life when you should be making peace with the world

She's wearing shirt about "kindness" as she does this. You can't make it up.

@Matt_Pinner Boris was a disappointing mess; Starmer is a worse-than-even-anticipated mess. “Better” is not a word I would use for either man.

@LangmanVince “I’ll get you, my pretty! And your little dog, too!”

@herandrews White is traditionally a euphemism for protestant, hence why Italians and Greeks, and even Irish weren't "white".
English

The whole exchange is amazing.
“If you put Syrians, Turks, Greeks, and other people who live around the Mediterranean in a lineup, do you think you could say those people are all non-white?”
“I understand that Syrians may be classified as white for purposes of the State Department or under certain government programs. But you’d have to poll the public to know what they think the race of a Syrian is.”
“Poll the American people? Do they think Syrians are white?”
“I wouldn’t think that most would, Justice Alito. I really don’t.”
“What about Turks?”
“I honestly haven't considered what race I would sort Turks into.”
“How about Greeks?”
“I don't know that either.”
“How about southern Italians?”

An attorney for Haitians says the only reason Trump ended TPS for migrants from a variety of nations is that they're non-white Justice Samuel Alito trips him up asking whether Syrians, Greeks, and "southern Italians" are white "You have a really large definition of who's white and who's not white"

@benonwine He did enormous damage to Britain’s constitutional framework.

@MZHemingway Upon first reference daily. After that “three-time bestseller” should suffice.

@higgyboson @Super_Charles I actual fact, historical dramas get many details wrong, sometimes laughingly so. It is true that at one time, the details mattered, and the attention to them was painstaking. But those days are long gone. With very rare exception, it’s all mostly dreck.
English

Why do film and television companys making historical dramas take so much trouble to get the details correct, such as the costumes, the buildings, the scenery, the interior decoration, the props and (more recently) the vehicles only to cast a black woman as the landlady of a Taunton pub in 1763 or a Pakistani man as the local magistrate in Shrewsbury in 1901 or a random Chinese kid in a school classroom in 1867 or an Indian bloke as the local vicar in 1568?
English

@VyseCecil The reaction to the earliest of such visits, the 1860 tour by the then Prince of Wales, the future King Edward VII, was very much the same. America has always had a fascination with royalty, particularly British royalty.

@Jerry__Grey @mommabearjogs @AdamKinzinger Well, the Élysée Palace is the real deal. Most of the interior decoration was completed by the mid-1720s and it shows. Real neo-classical elegance.
English

@mommabearjogs @Jerry__Grey @AdamKinzinger What’s funny is that much of the interior decoration of Buckingham Palace under King George IV was criticized at the time as over-the-top and theatrical. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.
English

@Jerry__Grey @AdamKinzinger This is real. And historic. A product of many things, including the time in which it was built.
Dear Leader has defaced The People’s House with tacky gold painted press ons from Home Depot. Not even close 🙄
