Finally, it has been an enormous privilege to represent the UK in Baghdad, Khartoum, Washington DC, Madrid, Abu Dhabi, Amman & Jordan, the last three as Ambassador. At the end of the day it is our shared values which count, & the friendships based on those which we carry with us

Sadly my last tweet as British Ambassador to Tunisia. I leave Tunis today for the private sector. I remain profoundly optimistic about Tunisia’s future democratic & economic vocation; & the UK’s commitment to accompany on the journey, including in education & renewable energy.

From 4am on Monday 1 November, the Tunisian double vaccination certificate will be recognised in England.
This means no more self-quarantine on arrival for vaccinated travellers 💉🧳🌍

I just saw a wonderful photo of Mongi Slim addressing the UN General Assembly in 1961 as its first President from Africa. Also I think 🇹🇳’s first delegate to the UN Security Council. 65 years on, & 76 since the UN’s founding, the UK celebrates our partnership with 🇹🇳 on the UNSC

Business famously gets done on the golf course as well as in the boardroom. So this w/e the Tunisian-British Chamber of Commerce assembled 100+ business leaders for a spectacular Golf Tournament on the great Hammamet course.Much business,much golf,& perfect timing before the rain

My visit this weekend to #SoniaFlowers in #Tabarka - established by Ms Sonia Ibidhi - certainly bears testimony to the vitally important contribution of Tunisian women to the rural economy, & to the national economy as a whole. Great that Tunisia has received this recognition.
