Nuevo ataque a billeteras: un drenador está en ejecución. Ya afectó a casi 600 wallets vaciadas, principalmente en Ethereum, aunque también vació wallets en otras redes como HyperEVM, BNB Chain, Base, etc. Hasta el momento lleva robados más de 740.000 dólares. Se reportan casos de wallets que no tenían actividad desde hace mas de 7 años, por lo que se sospecha que se trata de un robo masivo de frases semilla. Creo que la decisión que ha tomado Arbitrum de congelar los $ETH del hacker es la más correcta. Imagínate tener la capacidad de salvar $70M de los usuarios de tu red sin romper nada y aun así dejar que el criminal se vaya con todo el dinero. La descentralización sin eficiencia ni seguridad no es viable a largo plazo, sé que puede sonar duro porque es una fantasía rota pero los años hasta ahora ya lo han demostrado. Si el sistema se utiliza de una forma justa y correcta no le veo el problema ya que entiendo que este tipo de acciones se toman en casos muy puntuales. Y si os preocupa tanto el tema podéis mover vuestros ETH y BTC a sus redes L1 y ya está, en este mercado tenemos soluciones para todos.

I'm a member of the Security Council & I can tell you we did not make this decision lightly, there were countless hours of debates, technical, practical, ethical and political. But all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing, so today, we decided to do something.

The Arbitrum Security Council has taken emergency action to freeze the 30,766 ETH being held in the address on Arbitrum One that is connected to the KelpDAO exploit. The Security Council acted with input from law enforcement as to the exploiter’s identity, and, at all times, weighed its commitment to the security and integrity of the Arbitrum community without impacting any Arbitrum users or applications. After significant technical diligence and deliberation, the Security Council identified and executed a technical approach to move funds to safety without affecting any other chain state or Arbitrum users. As of April 20 11:26pm ET the funds have been successfully transferred to an intermediary frozen wallet. They are no longer accessible to the address that originally held the funds, and can only be moved by further action by Arbitrum governance, which will be coordinated with relevant parties.

We should be open to revisiting whole beacon/execution client separation thing. Running two daemons and getting them to talk to each other is far more difficult than running one daemon. Our goal is to make the self-sovereign way of using ethereum have good UX. In many cases that means running your own node. The current approach to running your own node adds needless complexity. Short-term, maybe we want some more standardized basic wrapper that lets you install dockers of any client and make them talk to each other easily? Also good that @ethnimbus unified node github.com/status-im/nimb… exists. Longer term, we should be open to revisiting the whole architecture once @leanethereum lean consensus is more mature.
