🔻I lost a job at a Belgian university after three days for anti-'israel' social media posts🔻 As ‘israel’ has murdered hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, Lebanese, and Iranians, rather than cutting ties with ‘israeli’ universities, European universities have spent the last two years heavily suppressing academics who try to speak out against ‘israel’. My story is just one of countless. I was supposed to start at VUB in August to carry out an ERC Starting grant. Just three weeks ago, I was 'wined and dined' by the VUB's rector and vice-rector as part of a dinner for ERC grant winners. We were told that we were the pride of the university, and asked to officially endorse the rector's reelection. Luckily I screenshotted the now deleted photo shared by the vice-rector (see below). I was also told during that week the university considers X a private sphere and does not intervene as a principle, unless found by a court to break the law. Wow, I thought, perhaps an institution with a backbone to stand up to the Zionist lobby that had targeted me in the Netherlands. 48 hours later, following the US-'israel' violence against Iran, and some posts where I expressed excitement that 'Tel Aviv' (which is full of military targets) might face more Iranian missiles in response, and praised the murdered Ayatollah Khamenei for standing up to Zionism and the 'Epstein pedophile cabal', the university suddenly released a public statement saying they would cancel my appointment, making up slanderous stories about how my posts crossed ‘legal boundaries’ and broke non-existent agreements. I know little about the internal process that led to this sudden U-turn, and who called or lobbied the university (we can guess). A Belgian lawyer told a radio show that the rector told him it was my comment about the pedophile cabal that went too far (have they heard of the Epstein files?). I am currently seeking legal advice. This is a perfect illustration of just how captured our institutions are by 'israel' and the Zionist lobby. There is no freedom of speech when it comes to ‘israel’. Express support for wanted war-criminal Netanyahu, no problem. Express support for Gaza being obliterated, no problem. But if an academic dares express support for 'israel's' enemies, or any military action against 'israel', they cannot work in a European university, no matter their credentials. Our universities do not protect free speech. They facilitate and accommodate anti-Palestinian speech, while actively policing anti-'israel' speech so as to make it impossible for professors to be anti-zionist, or stand with those who resist Zionism. They also still to this day refuse to break ties with 'israeli' institutions complicit in genocide and ethnic cleansing. In short, our universities are working for 'israel'. We must de-Zionise them.

@bartlecoq Nou ja, dat laatste klinkt wat zwaar maar dat er rente zal dienen te worden betaald lijkt mij evident. Dat was/is ook het geval bij de in 2015 verstrekte lening t.b.v. de eerste fase van de verbouwing.
