@BasedIllinoisan I think the one reason people don’t talk about is housing. Most Gen Z and millennials can’t afford a home in a nice neighborhood with decent schools. We have 2 kids, would love a 3rd but simply don’t have room in our current home.

This is cope. Unless the material economic conditions change in the U.S. the birth rate will stagnate at best. There is absolutely no incentive economically for people to have kids and that is only getting worse at this rate.

@SakurasCardShop I’m so tired of this mindset lol. It’s this new wave of collectors. They melt down if a product has a snag or tear. They insist on a discount over the smallest little ding. At the rate we’re going there’s gonna be a grading company for sealed boxes before long 😑

This is usually a manufacturing issue. I’ve opened sealed cases of various ETBs from distro and every single ETB in them had this exact rip. There’s nothing stores can do about it either. TPCI won’t refund anyone for these issues as the items are intended to be opened anyways. Not stored for generational wealth in 2 months.

@Lordyzerman2 @CardPurchaser That question is best answered by a CPA because it depends on many different aspects, not just a $ amount but you eventually have to make a profit off your business (3 out of 5 years) or risk the irs classifying it as a hobby to where you can’t claim all deductions.

How much in ebay sales before you make it a business? Asking for a friend...can I then write off losses from breaks and rips? Serious question. @CardPurchaser #thehobby

@SakurasCardShop Something I’ve noticed is that all the local scalpers started collecting in 2025 lol. You can see in the local FB groups they all joined in Jan Feb 25. Used to post restocks and stuff. Now they’re all “vendors”.

All jokes aside, if you weren’t collecting in 2020 you can’t call someone a scalper ^^^^ 98.69% of everyone saying scalper

@CardPurchaser @PSAcard @natsturner Anyone ever drop off cards at a PSA event? I did a month ago and still hasn’t showed up at their grading facility nor can I track my submission order but it says it has arrived. Any insight from anyone about their experience?

@Minty_Gem_Cards I think it’s that 2 copy tier that kinda throws people off. There’s 2 and I can’t even buy 1 of them? I think that’s what rubs people wrong. Keep the model but ditch the trade for lesser % when we have 2 copies deal.

@Minty_Gem_Cards Maybe some sort of “less is more” approach. Where the case is cards available via trade in only. Move duplicates out to your other cases. Make it less confusing and more straightforward. Not “this one you can buy this one you can only trade for but at a lesser % etc…”

Our shop has been given some negative reviews from customers that don’t appreciate our trade wall. To my knowledge were the only card shop that has this model. We’ve invested a lot to maintain it. Should we scrap this model or keep it going? Let me explain.

@Minty_Gem_Cards I think you might need to just rethink the concept. It’s kinda confusing even though I’ve read the sign 3 times. If there’s 2 copies … why can’t I just buy one of them? I get trying to retain at least one.. but if I understand correctly, that 1 copy will never be available?

So I’m at an impasse. My question do I just throw this entire model away? Not carry the inventory. And sell everything at cash knowing that the customers that appreciate the model won’t be able to find even a fraction of the cards were able to keep on hand because of this model?

@MeechFromPallet It’s all just so different now than the last boom lol. There’s so many more people willing to pay market because it’s so much harder to find stuff or catch msrp drops than 2020/21

@EelWayne I understand I really try not to but I also have a duty to help those that are willing often times people think there’s no engagement or interest just because someone doesn’t reveal they purchase but almost every ad has a sale no matter the cost or item we have so many collectors

Most of these accounts now only exist to increase fomo a lot of people pointing out numbers and pricing not nearly enough people posting information on products locations even simple target restocks have been made into a big ordeal because people always posting back end numbers

@EelWayne Yeah but now that big box is basically fully market it’s almost impossible not to post it even if I don’t someone else will we’d all have to stop posting them collectively to make a difference

@CardPurchaser did anyone else get some Wonders of the First redemption card with their PSA magazine, try to redeem it, and end up just signing up for their VIP list without any word on whether or not they won an auto or not????

@DGcards40 @CardPurchaser I’d say keep in mind that if you are going to have a lot, there’s a decent chance they will do additional screening if it’s in checked baggage. Not sure what it is but something about them all packed together like that always sets it off.
