I support Toxie's decision on this, and y'all need to not.
For some people, departing the partner programme is the correct move. I respect Toxie for using her platform to help donate to charity on this.

I have been asked to step down from sot partner multiple times and i personally do not see this to be constructive. to me, it’s a gesture that won't help or solve anything, and i'd rather use my position and platform to help victims. Please consider donating if you can.
