“I’m not a social media type. The lady didn’t buy the book on social media, my number and address are on the book, she couldn’t get to me through any of those means, but she chose to go to social media to discredit my work and my book. She’s too small for me to explain to, she was not born when I started teaching, however, there's nothing wrong with my book story.” — Writer of the book reacts after a young mother raised concern about a story included in a textbook used by her son’s school.

“Nigeria is becoming a joke. We are still talking about BON Bread suing a lady over her review, and now there is another case of a young mother receiving calls from lawyers because of her review about a topic she saw in her toddler’s textbook, which she described as toxic. They have made the police look like a joke in this country, and now they are moving to the legal department, which is quite unfortunate. Any small thing, lawyers want to sue. Is that what they are now teaching in law school? If a client brings a case to you, why can’t you simply advise your client? Soon people may stop respecting Nigerian lawyers because of the way things are going.” — A lady laments

@EfeMojoe @Cwenty2 @yabaleftonline Longevity and integrity are not same thing. The company need to show the world that what she said was not true. That’s how to start even if they want to sue her. Our problem is that we put emotion into everything. A business that has survived 20yrs will survive this as well

She came online to make a review about a BREAD. She didn't mention the bread's name, she did not show their logo. All of sudden, a bread company assumed that the bread she was holding belongs to them and she is making a bad review about their bread. The bread company decide to SUE the lady 1. They're asking her to retract her statement, 2. Take down the video and pay them 50 million This is Atanda's legal view on the matter The lady did not mention their name or show their logo. If the matter gets to court This is the elements the court will look for, since the lady did not mention their name or show their logo, the court will ask, 1. Would a reasonable person or ordinary member of society, looking at the video immediately know it was the bread of that specific bread company, considering the shape, nylon type or style. Let us assume we can recognise the bread name by seeing it, the next thing the court will look at is this. Was the review based on fact or false claims The court may need to buy the bread randomly from any store and keep it for that same period to confirm if her review is true or false. If it's true, she has no case to answer cos it's an honest review If it's false, she will go in for it And if the company can't prove it's their bread by just looking at the bread or if her review were said to the fact The lady can sue the company for Malicious Falsehood, intimidatiion and harassment and demand damages of 500 Billion Naira Ignorance of the law is no excuse © Atanda

@Cwenty2 @yabaleftonline It’s because you don’t know the bread that’s why you don’t recognize it, and the woman claims she was also liking replies mentioning her brand name. We have to be careful about destroying something someone have built for 20yrs
