Why do people keep calling the current state of college athletics "unsustainable?" The product is better, and more people are watching. What about college sports is unsustainable?

It feels purposeless to spend time and resources analyzing and discussing a basketball team for a year, just for the entire roster to leave and reset every April. Year after year. I have no idea how you fix it, but college sports is broken. This much turnover is unsustainable.

Built a multi billion dollar industry on unpaid labor (college athletes). Now paying them is unsustainable? That is not a system problem, that is accountability. It’s not about economics it’s about control. The only thing unsustainable is a model built on uncompensated labor.

Thankful that @JayBilas addressed this on College GameDay. Suddenly college sports need “saving” because college athletes are being paid and can transfer. Suddenly the NCAA needs antitrust protection. Odd. For decades, while everyone ate off the backs of college athletes, nobody sought federal regulation. Nobody sought an antitrust exemption. The urgency to lobby Congress to "save college sports" only came to be once the college athletes started getting paid. Let that sink in.

What I find interesting about the Newsoms is that they both relentlessly promote liberal/left ideologies that are corrosive to family formation and undermine traditional values. However, at the same time, they've been in a heterosexual marriage for 20+ years and have 4 children together. By those measures, they are more "trad" in terms of their own lifestyle than most Americans are, even a lot of conservatives aren't married with 4 kids. So what that tells me is the Newsoms KNOW that the traditional family model is the best; that's why they chose it when they both could've chosen anything else. But as elites they still promote insidious ideologies that end up harming the ordinary people who listen to them. It's a perfect illustration of "luxury beliefs."

Honestly I never wish for players to get drilled, but this case is different the angels absolutely need to retaliate and drill Rodriguez or Raleigh. Be better, it’s not hard to go up and in without hitting someone. Mariners should be embarrassed.
